concerning the whole thing said the same thing, two drivers began to lose consciousness and one or both of them crashed during practice with a handful of others complaining of nausea. I cant remember if NASCAR had already ran there or not but they defintely could not go thru the corners at Champ car speeds. As for IRL, I thought another reason why it was a big deal was because track ownership was worried IRL may have the same problem, cancel, and TMS would lose a ton of money. My memory is fuzzy about this though. You've got me curious now though, what did you hear was the deal? I cant imagine the Champ Car series - shedding engine manufacturers left and right, losing their top teams to IRL, having to buy their own airtime on speedvision (not good), rock bottom attendances, multiple Chairmen within something like 2 or 3 years - would cancel a race the day prior at a brand new, high vis, big publicity venue, unless lives were at stake. At the time it looked like the life of the series was in doubt. If there is something juicy that got left out do tell. I used to love watching Champ Car/CART events before it went down the shitter (thanks Tony George).
